Pastor Phyllis D. Harrell

  Rev. Phyllis Donna Harrell was born November 27, 1961, at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She is the youngest of four children born to Arthur Lee and Gladys P. Harrell, both deceased. Rev. Harrell accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Elizabeth Walker December 3rd 1967. Rev. Harrell is a single parent with two sons, Raphael Alexander Smith age 32, currently residing in New York, and Solomon Herbert Smith age 28, who lives in Iowa. In 1979 Rev. Harrell Graduated from Chicago Vocational High School with a vocational major in secretarial practice. She went on to when Miss Black Teenage World of Illinois in 1979 and was fourth runner up in the World Pageant in Roanoke Virginia. She won a scholarship to Texan A.M. University which she refused to stay home to support her mother and the church. Rev. Harrell is a devoted servant of God, to her family, her church and community. She has been a faithful and loyal member of Spiral Temple of Truth Church since inception. She has sat at the feet of Pastor Rev Gladys P. Harrell, and Rev Elizabeth Walker her great aunt and many more great Pastors. In 1994, she graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication. She was ordained as a minister; May 16th 1991and was installed as Pastor of Spiral Temple of Truth Church October 17, 1996.  She has been preaching the Gospel for 23 years and Pastoring for 18 years. Rev. Harrell has worked on a number of projects to improve the lives of the residents within urban communities. She has received numerous honors from various organizations because of her lifelong commitment to helping people. Rev. Harrell’s professional career has included working for State of Illinois DCFS- Wednesday’s Child Program Circuit Court of Cook County - Adoption Outreach Program, several Non-for Profit Organizations, American Health Care Providers and The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recovery efforts in the State of Florida and Alabama, Louisiana, and the six new England states, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. She is the Pastor of Spiral Temple of Truth Church currently serves as Chief Operation Officer at the Alliance for Community Peace a not for profit community based organization located in the Cabrini Green area and the south side of Chicago which employs170 people. Rev. Harrell has recently partnered with the North America Power Company which helps millions save money on their electricity.  She continues to preach and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she firmly believes she can do all things through Jesus Christ who is her strength.   Rev. Harrell’s hobbies include reading the bible, traveling, horseback riding, para sailing, kayaking, canoeing, zip-lining and swimming, shopping and cooking.    Her favorite bible verse is Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Rev. Harrell continues to serve and lead God’s people. She believes in the Word of God and that Christianity is a way of life, not just a religion.    Rev.
